Personally I liked both Norwegian Wood and Kafka on the Shore better. One of them even gave me her copy. The Wind Up Bird Chronicle is oft' touted as Murakami's best and most notable work, and that's what I was hoping for – to be completely blown away. Wind-Up Bird Chronicle has been my first exposure to a Haruki Murakami novel and I am sure it will not be my last. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is often said to be Murakami's masterpiece. No fewer than five separate friends have suggested this book to me. But of course this isn't to say that this isn't also a great book. I like to think that I have a well balanced mental diet.Key words here are 'I like to think that'I love movies and books that are extremely well executed. He was staff artist for the New york City's Village Voice and the San Francisco Chronicle. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami. Quite possibly the most interesting literary experience I've had. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (ねじまき鳥クロニクル Nejimaki-dori Kuronikuru). Rating: 5/5 great piece of original fiction. Recently she twisted a bunch of arms suggested a readalong of Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and more than 70 people jumped on board. Murakami is not for the faint of heart.
